PF-2 Fluoride Filter

Sold individually as an Add-On for Gravity Water Filter systems and are compatible with our Black Carbon filters. If you are using two black carbon filters, you will be required to purchase two fluoride filters.

Contains activated alumina. Activated alumina is a porous material with a high surface area that is effective at adsorbing fluoride ions from water.

Last for 3700L before they should be replaced.

Instructions: Priming & Setup for PF-2 Fluoride Filters

Thank you for choosing Grounded Kiwi. To ensure optimal performance and water quality, follow these essential washing and priming steps before installing your PF-2 Fluoride Filters.

1. Initial Wash

Wash the exterior of each fluoride filter with a mild dish soap and warm water with the filter caps still on. This prevents any soap from entering the filter media.

2. Priming & Flushing (Crucial Step)

The filters contain activated alumina. To remove manufacturing dust and saturate the media, flush the filters using the tan priming button (O-ring), if provided.

Remove the caps from both ends of the filter.
Attach the O-ring (if included) to the threaded stem of the filter. If the O-ring is not available, proceed to the next step. The O-ring assists with sealing but is not essential.
Hold the filter firmly against your cold water tap or o-ring to create a seal.
Direction 1: Turn on the tap slowly and flush water through the threaded end for 60 seconds.
Direction 2: Flip the filter and hold the opening against the tap or o-ring. Flush from this direction for another 60 seconds.

It is normal for the water to appear cloudy during this process. Continue flushing until the water runs completely clear.

3. Installation

Locate the threaded stems of your Black Carbon Filters in the upper chamber of your gravity system.
Carefully thread the primed Fluoride Filter onto the stem of the carbon filter.
Do not overtighten. Tighten until firm to create a seal, but avoid using excessive force.
Ensure the Fluoride Filter is hanging inside the lower chamber.

4. Final System Flush

After installation, fill the upper chamber with water. Allow the entire filtration cycle to complete, then discard the first full batch of filtered water. This step ensures the system is fully purged and ready for use.

Maintenance Tip: Replace PF-2 filters every 3,700 litres, or approximately every 12 months for a standard household, to maintain effective fluoride reduction.
